Regenerating effect of hyaluronic acid on circumferential bone defects in Wistar albino rats.

Objective: To determine the regenerating effect of hyaluronic acid on circumferential bone defects in albino Wistar rats. Material and Methods: An experimental type study was designed carried out with 15 male rats, 4 months old weighing between 250 350 grams. Two 3mm diameter 0.8mm deep were created calvaria parietal (on both sides midline). One defect filled a demineralized matrix (control group); while other combination plus (experimental group). Five rats euthanized at 30, 60 90 days after surgery they histologically evaluated following parameters proposed by Heiple. Results: The group presented better degree regeneration 30 postoperative days. Conclusion: Hyaluronic is effective defects.
